Happy Birthday Duke and Delta!

Well... I have to be honest... we really don't know when Duke and Delta were born but I have figured it out and they were both born sometime in February.

I got Delta sometime in March 3 years ago... YES, 3 YEARS AGO!!! When I picked her up from the pound they guestimated that she was about 6 weeks old. I back tracked and figured it up to be around this week in February. Duke came around a few months later. The vet guestimated that we was about 5 months old. Back track that and it makes him born in February also.
I can not believe our 2 furry kids are 3 years old!

Yes, I might be a little obsessed with Duke and Delta but we do consider them our kids. Spoiled-rotten should be their middle name. They love to be inside with us, take up the entire bed if we allowed them, and try to be 60lb lap dogs.

So... Happy ?Birthday? Duke and Delta! Even though you are 21 in dog years we are still just going to say you are only 3 years old!

Mardi Gras 2011

Zach and I are getting so excited about our upcoming trip to Thibadaux, Louisiana! We will be leaving in less than two weeks!!! We will be staying with our good friends Heather and Randall.

This will be our very first experience with Mardi Gras. Not real sure what to expect so I am trying not to listen to what everyone else has to say about it, that way we can make our own opinions about this big time. Only 13 more days!

Spring Fever!

The weather this weekend has been just absolutely gorgeous! I was sick on Thursday and Friday... so that means being stuck in the house for 2 days straight. I have decided that I am not a stay at home person. Its nice here and there or if it is a cold, rainy day but other that that I don't like it at all.

Today started bright and early at 6am for me and Zach. I just couldn't wait to get the day started. We immediately got ready and headed to Wal-Mart. Most people despise Wal-Mart but if you go that early its a really pleasant trip. We were on a mission to get our stuff and get out. Well, of course, it doesn't always work that way. I needed to get some mulch for our front yard. I am probably the only person in 35 degrees weather standing outside Wal-Mart trying to buy mulch. It took us forever to find the kind I wanted but we finally got it and headed home. After church the weather had it a very nice 67 degrees. All I wanted to do was be out of the house. I put the mulch down while Zach was doing some cooking. We both finished about the same time and decided that we should try to take Duke and Delta to the park. They never really get to go anywhere expect for walks around the neighborhood or to the vet. This was definitely an experience!

It all started off when Delta ran out the garage door and headed towards the street. Zach finally got her to stop. The back of my jeep was open so I was trying to get her to jump inside so we could head to the park. Delta decides to jump on the hood of my jeep instead of walking around to the back. Yes... the HOOD of my jeep!!! Crazy dog. We had the back windows cracked so Duke and Delta could hang their heads out. Next thing I know Duke has stepped on the button and has completely rolled the window ALL the way down. Almost completely hanging out, I am trying to roll the window up without rolling it up on Duke. We finally make it to the park and what is the first thing we see...

NO PETS ALLOWED

What??? You have got to be kidding me!

We see someone else with a dog so... we broke the rules too! Duke and Delta loved it! I was able to snap a few pics of our little furry kids on their first trip to the park!

I hope this weather isn't just a tease but is here to stay.

6 Months Post Surgery!

Has it really been 6 months since my knee surgery?!?!?!?

Well not quite, but close enough! I can't believe how fast time has flown by! I'm just a week and a few days shy of a complete 6 months!

I had what I thought was my last visit with Dr. Shelton on Wednesday. I was a little nervous about this appointment. I knew this would be the visit where he would release to my normal activity or not. Well... Doc said I looked great! He was very impressed and even had to show me off to one of his sells rep!

My knee likes to do a lot of popping and catching which freaks me out. I asked him about all of this and he looked at me and said something along these lines... Anyone with two major surgeries on the same knee will experience some popping and catching. That made me feel a lot better.

At my 3 month check-up he said that I could start jogging. At that time I thought he was crazy. It is amazing how each day I can tell that I am getting stronger and more comfortable with this knee. I have gotten my mile back to 10 mins. Hoping to continue to improve this even more.

I have also been dying to teach more classes at work. I started adding a little here and there at work to ease my way back in. I can't wait for next week when I can get on my normal schedule!

Doc still wants me to come back in 6 more months for 1 final check-up. I couldn't believe he was talking about my 1 year check-up. Time goes by WAY to quick. It takes up to a year for a FULL recovery.... and I can't wait for this! I can tell I'm stronger but I am ready for "normal" again!

Thanks again for all the wonderful support I have had through all of this!

Happy Birthday Shorty!!!

Shorty's birthday was February 3rd. On Wednesday, Zach and I went to Em's to hang out with her and Brooklee. As we were playing we started talking about what we should do for his birthday. We knew that Shorty and mom were going to come to Jackson on Friday night and leave on Saturday afternoon. All three of us decided that we would cook supper for him (and mom). We bundle up Brooklee (it was about -20 degrees outside) and head to Kroger. Our menu was:

Ribey
Greenbean Bundles
Loaded Baked Potatoes
Garlic Bread

And last but not least....

Homemade Peach Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream

Can we say DELICIOUS?!?!?!?!!? Oh.... And it was just that!!!

We were so excited about this wonderful dinner. But it had to wait. Shorty started running fever Thursday night and they weren't able to make it until Saturday.

Brooklee was so excited to see Pappy and Nana. She had so much fun playing with them. Em will hold up pictures and ask Brooklee who each person is. When she gets to Shorty she say pa-PY, and when she gets to momma she says NANA!

Brooklee giving Pappy his Birthday hug.

After a long day of shopping we finally made it back to Em and Britt's to get supper ready. Brooklee was loving all the attention. She was over here, then over there... back and forth she went. Em got Brooklee to sit still for a moment and help her make the yummy peach cobbler.
Just call her Little Miss Betty Crocker!

After dinner Brooklee and Shorty decided to play a little hide-n-seek. It was sooo funny. She was just laughing and laughing.

I am so blessed to have such an amazing family. I cherish every single second with each one of them. Happy Birthday Shorty! I hope it was FABULOUS!
