Our house came with all the appliances except: fridge, washer and dryer. Thankfully, Zach already had a washer and dryer from college. So all we needed was a fridge! On the way to our closing for the house we stopped at a place called Hudson's. You never know what you find in Hudson's. It is the type of place that if something happens to a store (fire, flood, or going out of business) takes whats left. What do we see when we walk in... a row of FRIDGES!!! Not only did we find a black on that matched the rest of our appliances but it was a steal! GREAT PRICE! So we snatch it up before going to the closing. Britt and Emilee take it to our house and guess what.... it doesn't fit in the door! Well after a door being removed and a little maneuvering. Its in... thank goodness. Well the way they designed the house the light switch is on the wall with the fridge and there is NO way of getting your hand back there to flip the switch. So what do we do to turn the lights on... A wooden spatula! Hey... whatever works!
What happened next... Zach's parents came down to bring all his furniture and the washer and dryer! It took about 2 hours trying to figure out how to get the washer and dryer in. We don't have a laundry room, its more of a laundry closet. Once again doors were removed and maneuvering took place.
Next... A month after moving in we started seeing a leak in our garage. We could not figure out where the leak was coming from. Well come to find out its coming from that oversize, light switch covering fridge! Well my wonderful brother-n-law came to the rescue... so we thought ;)!
One night Zach got home before I did and opened the garage only to find Niagara Falls pouring out! I rushed home to find our kitchen, dining room, guest bedroom, master bedroom and master bathroom and closet about 2 inches under water!!!! AHHHHH!!! Thats all I could say. Our ice maker hose on the fridge came apart and water had been shooting every where all day!!!
Not only do we have problems with appliances we also have problems with wild animals. On pretty days we leave the back door open for fresh air and to let the dogs come in and out as they wish. Well this one day Duke was going crazy. He never barks and this particular day he was barking and barking! I got outside to see what he is barking at to find a HUGE dinosaur related bird perched on our roof. This thing was GIGANTIC!!! If it was standing next to me it probably would have been up to my hips tall. It just sat there and tortured Duke! Finally, this dinosaur related bird decided to leave Duke alone and go away... thank gosh!
Not done yet.... well here recently we have had an issue with a possum! One night Duke wanted out around 1230am. I let him and all of a sudden he started barking like crazy again. So this got Delta fired up. Zach was trying to get the dogs in and started hearing something hissing at the dogs. Next night... same thing! I LOVE MY SLEEP! Possum please go away!!! Zach lifted the grill up and the possum ran out made it five steps then played dead. Duke and Delta messed with it a while until my uncle decided to throw it back over the fence where it belongs! Sleep has been MUCH better!
Last but not least, our kitchen sink is leaking now! Really?!?!? Britt came and worked on it Friday and fixed it, well at least for the weekend. Now, I have a DO NOT USE sign posted until it gets fixed!
Oh the life of a home owner! You never know what is going to happen! We ABSOLUTELY love being home owners and have enjoyed every single incident we have faced. Even those these memories could have been left out of our lives... this is what happens at times!
